The Case Of The Drowning Chipmunk

I know I’ve talked about my love of animals over and over again, but the fact of the matter is I really do love animals. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not a good candidate for the PETA spokesperson. I still wear leather, eat fish and chicken, but in my opinion, the two can co-exist!

Well I was at my parents pool this afternoon, and I heard something in the water. Frogs seem to love their pool, and we catch them in there all of the time! So over I went to the opposite end of the pool to rescue the frog. Normally, I can just grab them, or worse case scenario, get the net, and fish him out. As I started to walk over, I decided it was the biggest frog I had ever seen in my life! As I got closer, I realized it wasn’t even 2% a frog! It was a chipmunk!

The poor chipmunk, was drowning, and gasping for air! I started screaming for my Mom to get the net! The poor baby was terrified and I couldn’t grab him with my hands, he wouldn’t let me get near him. Luckily my Mom, (and fellow animal lover), got there within seconds! She fished him out and set him on the ground! The poor little chipmunk was in such shock he couldn’t even move! He sat there froze, trying to breath! It was awful. After a couple of minutes, he mustered the strength to walk towards the landscaping one little hop at a time! The good thing was we did our best to save him, but we’re not sure if he lived! Saving him brought back memories of, “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” one of my favorite cartoons as a kid! I think the little chipmunk we saved would have been more of a Theodore than Alvin. It seems to me Alvin would have found a way out, and Simon would have been too smart to fall in!! Alvin, Simon, Theodore, doo doo do do do do!! LOL! I loved the theme song!!

Lots of Love,
