After what seemed like a lifetime, at 5 years old one of my life dreams was about to come true! I had finally broke my parents down, and got them to buy me a dog! Like any typical animal lover, the thought of having a dog seemed like quite possible the greatest thing in the world, (sitting here with Windsor and Bentley on my lap it’s funny to think how much of me is still that same 5 year old)! So off we went to Cranberry, Pennsylvania, my parents, sister and I to get the newest member of our family, a baby boy Maltese we would name Jojo! This is where the story takes a turn. When we arrived at the breeders to pick up Jojo, I saw something that I could not take my eyes off of! It was in that moment that I realized this had to be the coolest place I had ever been in my life. The breeder had a pet deer! A little fawn she rescued and had nursed back to health! I don’t even think the car had stopped when I was on my way, check that, sprinting to go play with the deer!
I know some of you may be thinking how in the world does Karli love animals particularly deer as much as she does and also have a husband that has a Hunting TV show, aka Reaper Outdoors: Survive The Hunt! Well you see it’s like this, I’ve come to realize in the many years Doug and I have been together there are just some things we’ll never understand about each other and that’s ok! For example, I love going to the spa, and Doug won’t even walk in one. I think shopping is one of the greatest events in my life, Doug would rather have a cavity filled. It’s one of those things that we don’t get about each other, but fully support each other’s passion for them!
So ok back to my love of animals and deer. I fell in love with that deer, it was like a real life Bambi experience, and my love for deer was solidified. Doug clearly knows about my love of deer, (when he hunts them we just don’t talk about it), so e ended up planning an awesome surprise for me! He took me to a place that raises fawns . I got to play with fawns! It was one of the best things ever. They were so sweet! They were jumping on me and licking me just like a puppy and I couldn’t get enough! The one fawn in particular I fell completely in love with. Precious was her name, and it was like Doug could read my mind, he looked at me and said, “We’re not taking the fawn home, we do not need a pet deer!” It definitely did cross my mind, but I must admit I was almost frightened how well Doug knows me! Here are some pictures with me and the sweetest fawn ever…..Precious!
Lots of Love,
