It was a day Kennedy enthusiast like me had waited many years for; the release of Jacqueline Kennedy’s conversation with Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. I remember hearing about these tapes as a child and wondering if I would ever in my lifetime get to hear them. Jacqueline Kennedy was notoriously private, and I couldn’t help but think by the time she allowed them to be released, I would no longer be around to hear them. Thankfully, I was wrong.
When I got my copy of, “Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy,” I was ecstatic! I didn’t know anything about the packaging, so I was thrilled that it came with both audio CD’s and a book. I think we all know I listened to every second of every CD, and also read the book!
In true Jacqueline Kennedy style, she was the master of telling so much yet divulging nothing. I couldn’t help but wish Mr. Schlesinger would have asked at least one question about her and not just the President. I certainly don’t want to make it sound like I wasn’t enthralled with every second, because I assure you I was, I guess I’m the typical, “give a mouse a cookie!” In the end, I found myself fascinated by Mrs. Kennedy’s front row seat to history, but most of all I was so in awe of the strength displayed by her in what was clearly the worst time in her life.
Lots of Love,
