I watched Michael Jackson’s, “This Is It,” for the first time in a long time today! I went to see, “This Is It,” in the theater, and frankly didn’t expect much. I just didn’t see how rehearsal footage could make a good movie, or do a stage show justice. I could not have been more wrong! I sat in the theater blown away! I couldn’t believe what a musical and performance genius Michael Jackson was. I was completely captivated! Therefore, anytime, I get a chance to watch, “This Is It,” I do.
I grew up a huge Michael Jackson fan! We had all of his albums, I think we had several copies of all of them actually. His music was always playing in our house. I remember when his “History,” album came out like it was yesterday! There are so many amazing songs on it, and one of my favorite songs of his is, “The Earth Song,” off of the, “History,” album. I was thrilled the first time I saw, “This Is It,” when he planned to included it in his final tour! It’s funny to say which song of Michael Jackson’s is your favorite, because every time I hear one of his songs, I think that one is my favorite! I think it’s almost indescribable to see Michael Jackson in, “This Is It!” I believe every performer can learn something from a true master on the stage! I so wish I could have seen the final show in person! Music that stands the test of time is few and far between. I believe Michael Jackson’s music will past that test and then some! Watching, “This Is It,” makes me want to be a better singer, songwriter, and performer! It’s incredibly sad to think of the demons Michael Jackson clearly fought everyday of his life. It’s horrible to think of the addictions that came to dominate his life. It’s hard not think of the what ifs when someone passes before their time. I’m not trying to canonize Michael Jackson in his death, but the legacy he left behind in music is second to none! “This Is It,” but not the end for Michael Jackson’s music!
