With all of my new pictures being posted online and the redesign of my website, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about what a photo shoot is like, and how it all works! Well I thought today would be perfect to kind of talk about what goes into a photo shoot, and what being there is actually like!
For my team and I, our first step was to find the perfect stylist! A stylist is the person responsible for picking out all of the clothes, shoes, jewelry, and accessories at a photo shoot, and really any other appearance you have! Now in a town like Nashville, every stylist is amazing, so it really is all about finding the stylist that best gets who you are, and what you are about. Plus you have to really like the person, because you spend a lot of time with them! We ended up meeting with four different people all of which I really liked, but for me the choice was obvious, so we brought the fabulous Samantha Roe on board to be my new stylist! The styling part is my absolute favorite thing about a photo shoot. I mean what girl doesn’t like to go shopping and get new clothes!?!
The next step is to have the perfect hair and makeup person. This is the member of the team can make or break a photo shoot! Unfortunately, I don’t wake up looking so lovely, and as a result I decided to have my hair dresser and friend Chelsea Nichol come on board to get my face and hair in check! I knew only her magical touch could turn me, and my wild and crazy hair into what I needed!
Lastly, it’s all about picking the right photographer! I have to admit this is my least favorite part of photo shoots. At the end of the day, I’m a singer not a model, and when it comes to getting my picture taken it shows! I knew because I’m not the best in front of a still camera I was going to have to find the photographer that could best put me at ease, and let me forget there was a camera in front of me. After a bunch of interviews, and a lot of debate, I decided Eli McFadden would be perfect for this shoot!
Now once everything is in place it’s all about getting to the location and having fun! We started around noon and with a bunch of laughs, a fabulous playlist on my iPod, the constant sound of a camera clicking, and a room full of people looking at me, the shoot was underway! We were changing clothes, hair, makeup, setups, lighting, music, there was never a dull moment, and that was what I loved most about it! Anyone who knows me, knows there is nothing I hate worse than being bored! I felt like I had just got there when Eli said, “that’s a wrap!” I almost died when I looked up at the clock to see 5 hours had gone by! For the first time in my life at a photo shoot I was able to relax, have fun, and I know that was only possible because of the amazing team around me! Thanks everybody!

Lots of Love,
