I have this theory. Granted it’s just a theory, but I think if you hear it, you will find some validity to it! My theory is…..you grow up in one of two homes, you either grew up in a house that spilling things WASN’T a big deal or in a house that spilling things WAS a big deal! I for example grew up in a house that spilling things wasn’t a big deal, and Doug grew up in a house that spilling thing was a very big deal!
My Mom laughs every time I say that, because she said if she got mad every time I spilled something she would have lived her life miserable! Well, I have a confession to make…….I am a spiller! I spill constantly! I honestly can’t help myself! Even now, not a day goes by I don’t spill something.
I’ll never forget, it was about a month after Doug and I got married when the theory hit me! I had just spilled/shattered a brand new glass bottle of olive oil all over our wood floors! Doug freaked out like he was going to get yelled at, and I started hysterically laughing, because that was the moment it hit me…..you either grow up in a house where spilling a is big deal or you grow up where spilling isn’t a big deal! I looked at Doug and said, “We’re aren’t going to get yelled at!! This is our house!” Doug says my theory is just an excuse for not being careful! LOL! Maybe he’s a little bit right, but if you think about it, I think it has a lot of truth behind it! I’ve also decided that couples are always made up of one of each! I’ve tested the theory on my family and friends and it always stands true! Try it sometime! Granted when you first ask, “did you grow up in a house that spilling was a big deal?” They’ll look at you like you’re crazy, but then a light bulb will go off and they’ll start laughing, because either them or their spouse/significant other did!
The reason I bring this up is because last night, I was laying in bed reading a book on my Kindle. I’ve recently become addicted to Vitamin Water Zero, so I brought a bottle with me to bed! I bet you can guess what happened next! Oh yeah, I spilled it all over myself, and my kindle! Doug started laughing, and said, “It wouldn’t be a day without you spilling something!” The saying, “there’s no use crying over spilt milk,” has had a lot of use in my life! LOL! And truthfully, there is something to be learned from it! Once something has happened it’s over, and there is nothing you can do to change it. Don’t torture yourself over a mistake. When you know better you do better, so live, learn, move on and have fun! So what if you spill, that’s what paper towels are for! Life goes by so fast, have fun and laugh everyday!
Lots of Love,
